King Edward’s is delighted to welcome Vanessa Edworthy as our new School Counsellor. Vanessa brings a wealth of relevant experience to the School, from previous similar roles at Alton College (as Lead Counsellor) and Frensham Heights, and as an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). From a very strong field, Vanessa’s clarity, understanding of both our context and the complexities of the diverse pupil and staff body all made her an outstanding candidate and we could not be more pleased to make this appointment. It will be a key step in our continuing focus on wellbeing, mental health as the essential pre-condition for everyone to develop and fulfil potential educationally and in every other way.
Vanessa will be based in the old Exhibition Room at the foot of the Marching Steps. Pupils and staff will be able to book appointments with her online (for the sake of discretion). Vanessa is keen to develop our awareness of counselling by talking to Houses, individuals and groups of pupils, and presenting at assemblies, in order to enhance mental health and reduce anxiety or stress, particular at the current time.
