I attended KESW between 2000-2007, in Edward House. The highlight of my time was competing in countless sports. I loved the camaraderie of being in football and cricket teams – fighting for each other on the pitch, then having a laugh on the coach back to school. The teaching that made the greatest impression on me was Philosophy and RE with ‘Doc’ Foshaugen. He didn’t let being a priest prevent him enthusiastically introducing us to critical thinking and arguments against the existence of a God.
After KESW, I went to the University of Exeter to study Philosophy & Political Economy. Then an MA in Conflict, Security and Development at King’s College, London. My career has been in the international development and humanitarian sectors, working in Somalia, Switzerland and the UK. I’m currently an evaluator of UK-funded overseas development assistance projects. I’m proudest of my work for the African Union and UN in Somalia on projects removing unexpoded ordinance and improving security for civilians.
