Hello, I’m Alarna, I currently live in Cheshire with my fiancé and our son, who arrived this year. I was in Queen’s House 2005-2010.
There are lots of great memories I have from my time at King Edward’s, but my favourite memories were made in Queen’s. I boarded and shared a room with two girls who are my best friends still today. I will forever be grateful that our paths crossed, and friendships were made that will last a lifetime. My housemistress was Mrs Goundry. She was like my second mum and made me feel like I could achieve anything if I believed in myself and put my mind to it. She was also my textiles teacher, which with Art and PE, was one of my favourite lessons.
My love of textiles led me to study an Art & Design foundation diploma at London College of Fashion, then onto my degree in Fashion Design and Development at London College of Fashion. From here, I went into Retail Management for a womenswear brand, and I’m now a buyer for an online retailer in the North.
My hobbies are very much similar to my favourite lessons in school: I regularly go to the gym, and still continue to make garments alongside my job. I enjoyed cross country running in school, something I still do, and also swimming. I’m not sure if me or my sisters still hold some of the PB’s for the in house swimming races – I should perhaps find out!
My biggest achievement to date has got to be my son, who was born end of July 2024. I’m currently enjoying every day watching him develop, and me personally grow as a mother.
In 2022, my fiancé and I went travelling for a year, visiting America, Canada, Singapore, Bali, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Dubai. This was the best decision we ever made to go travelling and see more of the world.
